We aim to apply for grants to enable us to get families together for courses of a few weeks duration. These have proved popular in the past so we will extend them to families already receiving home visits from our volunteers.
Home-Start Uttlesford believes that families benefit from attending family group sessions in addition to home visiting. The aim of these sessions is to provide a warm, friendly and supportive atmosphere, where parents and children are welcomed by our experienced playleaders.
There are opportunities to make new friends and share experiences in a group. The children enjoy the space, the physical freedom and the large play equipment which they do not usually have at home.
At the Family Group sessions children and parents will have opportunities to learn together, play games, use various toys and construction, listen to stories and help out on the creative table. This enables the children to learn to become more independent, communicate, and learn to share toys and respect belongings. Don’t feel embarrassed if some weeks your child is not on their best behaviour. Everyone will understand.
Over the year we have an annual outing which enables the families to enjoy a day out as a family. We also hold a summer picnic during the school holidays.
Our Christmas Party gives Father Christmas an opportunity to deliver presents for the children and their parent.
We provide opportunities to learn to make simple nutritional meals, enjoy new foods and explore the positive benefits of exercise with your children. Courses are provided by external grants and have proved very popular with parents and children.
