Volunteer Course October – December 2011

Home-Start has just completed its 32nd Volunteer Preparation Course and has trained 11 new volunteers who will visit families living within Uttlesford.

The volunteers have found the course interesting and enjoyed meeting the professionals representing the Police, Health Services, CAB and Children’s Centres. They will be matched to support local families in the New Year.

Family Group Christmas Party

Home-Start Family Group parents and children enjoyed a Christmas Party at Golden Acre Community Centre, Saffron Walden.

The children were enthralled by Circus Skills Entertainer, Tom Puckett.

The party was organised by the Family Group team: Maria, Jayne and Jane.

All the children received a gift from Father Christmas. These presents were donated by the congregations of Littlebury and Duxford churches.

Annual Report

Another year has flown by and the Annual Report looks back over the year with information on activities about staff and families.  The families we visit make all our work worthwhile and we continually receive lovely quotes from them.

Here are just a few:

“When my volunteer was away for two weeks I felt something special was missing from my life.”

“After talking my problems through with the volunteer I felt a huge weight had been lifted from my shoulders.”

“My little boy often goes off to sleep and asks when he will see his Caroline.”
