Home-start believes that families benefit from attending family groups in addition to home visiting.  The aim of our Family Groups is to provide a warm, friendly and supportive atmosphere, where parents are welcomed by our experienced playleader, and in turn welcomes newcomers.

It is an opportunity to make new friends, to share in a group, as well as picnics, Christmas parties and outings. The children enjoy the space, the physical freedom and the large play equipment which they do not usually have at home

In the Uttlesford area we have two Family Groups.  They are both held on Thursdays during school term time:

Dunmow from 9.30 - 11.30 am and in Saffron Walden from 12.30 - 2.30 pm.

At the Family Groups the children will have the opportunity to play games, use various toys and construction, listen to stories and help out on the creative table.  this enables the children to learn to become more independent, communicate, and learn to share toys and respect belongings.  Don't feel embarrassed if some weeks your child is not on the best behaviour.  Everyone will understand.

annual outing

Over the year we have an annual outing which enables the families to enjoy a day out as a family.  We also hold a summer picnic during the school holidays.

Our Christmas Party allows Father Christmas to deliver presents for the children and their parent.
